The flickering neon sign of "The Crooked Dice" casts a lurid glow across the rain-slicked alleyway. You pull your trench coat tighter, the damp chill seeping into your bones. You shouldn't be here. Not again. But desperation, as always, has a way of twisting your arm. Inside, the air hangs thick with the aroma of cheap whiskey, stale cigarettes, and broken dreams. The low hum of hushed conversations mingles with the clatter of dice, each roll a gamble, a whispered prayer to fate. This is the heart of the Ombra, the city's underbelly, where fortunes are won and lost on a single card, a single throw. You scan the room. Familiar faces lurk in the shadows: "Fingers" Malone, a notorious card sharp with a prosthetic index finger that always seems to know your hand; "Whisper" O'Malley, a information broker with secrets etched into every wrinkle of his face; and "Brick" Sullivan, a hulking brute who solves problems with a lead pipe and a menacing glare. They all know why you're here. They can smell the need on you. Tonight, the game is different. More dangerous. Rumors have been circulating for weeks about the "Eldritch Gambit," a high-stakes game played with ancient artifacts and whispered rules. They say the prizes are beyond your wildest imagination, but the price of failure… well, let's just say some things are better left unknown. A figure detaches himself from the gloom. He's tall, impossibly thin, and dressed in impeccably tailored black. His eyes, when they meet yours, are like chips of obsidian, cold and knowing. "Welcome," he purrs, his voice a silken rasp. "I am the Arbiter. And tonight, you will play." He gestures towards a table draped in velvet, upon which rests a collection of objects that seem to vibrate with an unseen energy: a tarnished silver locket humming with a faint static, a bone die etched with unsettling symbols, and a deck of tarot cards that seem to shift and writhe before your very eyes. "The rules are simple," the Arbiter continues, his smile unsettlingly wide. "Draw a card. Roll the die. Play the game. But be warned, player. The Eldritch Gambit is not for the faint of heart. Your soul is the ante." What do you do?
