The stale air hung thick, a greasy miasma clinging to your lungs like a persistent cough. You open your eyes, but the darkness is absolute. Not the comforting darkness of sleep, but a suffocating, impenetrable blackness that presses in on you from all sides. Panic claws at the edges of your mind. You try to move, but your limbs are unresponsive, heavy and leaden. A dull ache throbs behind your temples. Where are you? The last thing you remember is... nothing. A void. A blank slate. Your mind is a locked vault, its secrets jealously guarded. You struggle against the oppressive darkness, willing your muscles to obey. Slowly, agonizingly, you manage to twitch a finger. Then another. A toe. A wave of nausea washes over you, but you persevere. As your senses begin to return, a low hum vibrates through your body, a discordant drone that seems to resonate from the very earth beneath you. You can feel it in your bones, a primal frequency that speaks of ancient things and forgotten powers. The air smells acrid, like burnt metal and ozone. With Herculean effort, you manage to sit up. The darkness remains, but now you can perceive its contours. You are enclosed, trapped within something. The air is close, almost claustrophobic. You reach out, your hand brushing against a cold, smooth surface. Metal? Stone? You can't tell. Then, a spark. A tiny pinprick of light flares into existence directly in front of you, illuminating a small section of the interior. It's not a natural light, but a glowing symbol etched into the surface before you. A complex design of interlocking lines and arcane symbols, pulsating with a faint, ethereal energy. As you stare at it, images flash through your mind - fleeting glimpses of swirling galaxies, crumbling temples, and faces you don't recognize but feel an inexplicable connection to. The humming intensifies, and the symbol glows brighter. A voice, ancient and resonating, echoes in your mind, not with sound, but with pure thought. "Awakening..." it whispers. "The slumber is broken. The cycle begins anew. Remember..." Then, the light fades, plunging you back into darkness. But something has changed. A seed has been planted. A fragment of memory, a flicker of understanding. You are not what you thought you were. You are something more. Something... other. Your journey begins now. And you have no idea what awaits you.
